Step 1: Bake sugar cookies. These are vanilla flavored. The first batch I made were almond flavored. Tip: Avoid baking and decorating cookies in humid weather. It takes a long time to dry.
Step 2: Prepare materials for making icing colors.
I used Wilton brown and pink coloring gels.
Step 3: Ice cookies (make sure they are cooled) with white royal icing.I used the Sweet Sugarbelle royal icing recipe.
Step 4 and 5: Decorate white iced cookies with your unique designs.
I choose to draw cherry blossom branches and experimented with colored sugar.
